Watch this one and see if you feel the same way (I’ve seen a bunch of his videos and you can definitely see the change from awkward engineer into human being / youtube star)

I detest that Car Throttle man. I respect Engineering Explained person.

He was friends with my boss in high school, and they still occasionally talk.

About how old is he? I can’t decide if he is young with graying hair, or older with a young face.

I disagree. Seems like a pretty decent guy to me. But then, maybe that makes me a tool too.

Mid-twenties. I wanna say 26 but I'm not sure.

I don’t hate Car Throttle for some reason, though I do hate their list videos. I do hate Subaruwrxfan.

SubaruWRXFan got his fan base to buy him a brand new car that he doesn’t even talk about in his videos anymore. He only does reviews and news now (which always just seems like a regurgitation of the Jalopnik FP).

I rather like him if only because he does a good job of explaining basics that more people should be aware of. Sometimes I google things to verify what he’s saying but that’s just internet 101. He’s right, too. He’s still awkard but not nearly as much as when he started.

Hey now, you’re not just any tool, you’re a great tool, like an SAE calibrated torque wrench

The engineer is a somewhat different subspecies. The physical form of the engineer is not particularly striking, or well defined. It’s mating calls and most vocalizations are rarely noticed by other types of human. However, when an engineer finds something of interest he can be very forceful in his calls, gestures, and expressions. These types of communication are often well understood by other engineers, but confusing to other humans. Because of these peculiar styles of communication, the engineer is often seen unfavorably, or awkward by non-engineer humans.

I go to his videos to confirm principles that I learned out of a 1955 car mechanic textbook, and the basic principles haven’t changed since that book was written.
I also go to his videos to see what new applications of those principles have resulted in.
He can be a bit wooden, but I find his info to be correct, complete, and comprehensive. I get what I come for, so I might not consider him to be a tools (as defined by Urban Dictionary).
